Who online internships for international students are for
International students use Actify when they want remote work experience with a manager who can describe what they delivered—not a participation certificate from a video library. Placements suit high school and college students preparing applications, exploring finance or consulting, or building a first résumé line from home.
Because programs are remote, your passport country does not need to match the host organization’s location. What matters is your track interest, weekly availability, English working level, and a time zone where you can meet a host manager at least once per week.
How time-zone matching works
Before onboarding, we ask for your time zone, school schedule, and preferred meeting windows. Host teams are matched so weekly check-ins fall in overlapping hours—often early morning or evening slots for students in Asia, Europe, or the Americas working with teams in other regions.
Weekly manager meetings
Most placements include at least one live video call per week with your host-team manager. The call covers status, feedback on drafts, and next milestones. Async work—research memos, slides, code, or campaign assets—happens between meetings on a schedule you agree in week one.
Part-time and full-time hour bands
Internships run 4–12 weeks. You can choose a part-time band (often 10–20 hours per week) or a fuller schedule when school breaks allow. Hour bands are set during Match → Plan → Build → Submit so expectations are clear before you start.
English level and remote communication
Host teams work in English. You do not need native fluency, but you should be comfortable reading briefs, writing updates, and discussing your work on video calls. We match by English working level so you are placed on a team that matches how you communicate today.
Written deliverables
Many international students contribute through written analysis, slide memos, documentation, or code with comments. Managers review these artifacts before they ship—similar to a junior analyst or intern workflow on a distributed team.
Asking for clarification
Scoped projects include room to ask questions. If a term or industry context is new, managers expect you to clarify rather than guess. That interaction is part of what later appears in your supervisor recommendation letter.
Certificate and recommendation letter for applications
After 4–12 weeks of scoped live work, you receive a certificate of completion and a supervisor recommendation letter from the manager who reviewed your deliverables. Both describe the project scope, your contributions, and the timeline—documents admissions readers and employers can verify.
The certificate confirms placement length and completion. The recommendation letter is written by someone who supervised the work, not a generic template. Students attach these to university applications, scholarship forms, and early internship or fellowship files alongside the project artifact itself.
Industry tracks available remotely
International students select a track—finance, consulting, technology, or public interest (including NGO and research-style host teams)—and are matched to a remote workstream in that category. You join live tasks the team is running, not a standalone case study disconnected from their operations.

Week one sets scope and communication norms. Middle weeks focus on drafts and manager feedback. Final week is readout, certificate, and supervisor recommendation letter—both usable on university and scholarship applications alongside your project artifact.
